Neck and shoulder pain in Ashbourne

Neck and shoulder pain can make ordinary movements awkward, from turning your head to reaching overhead. The first step is to understand where the symptoms come from and what needs attention.

What you may notice

  • Neck pain or stiffness when turning your head or working at a desk.
  • Shoulder pain or reduced movement when reaching, lifting or lying on that side.
  • Pins and needles, numbness or weakness in an arm should be discussed with a GP.

At an appointment

David will ask about your symptoms, any injury and how your arm and shoulder are working. With your consent, he may examine your neck, shoulder and movement. He will explain the findings and discuss whether osteopathy is suitable or a medical review is needed.

What happens next

The plan depends on what the assessment finds. It may involve advice on movement and activity, and hands-on care where appropriate. David will discuss the options before any treatment.

When to seek medical help

Contact a GP if neck pain comes with arm weakness or persistent pins and needles. Seek urgent medical help for sudden severe shoulder pain after an injury, a shoulder that has changed shape or an arm you cannot move.
